Despite decades of civil war, restrictive conditions and pressures from the Arab north, the church in Southern Sudan remains one of the fastest growing in Africa. Subtitled “Church growth in a Sudan at War”, this book presents the situation, studies some communities and describes a process of peace.

Many of the papers contained in the book were presented in a Conference held in Limuru, Kenya, in February 1997, and advance the understanding of Sudan's Christian and religious heritage. They are a valuable tool of understanding and a resource in the search for peace and reconciliation.
