This 383-page book documents the development of Christianity among the Dinka people of Sudan both during and since the missionary era. It explores the major themes in the dialogue between the Dinka and Christian missions, Catholic and Protestant, and asks what, during each period, have been the reasons for Dinka resistance to evangelization as well as their motivations for conversion.

Author Marc Nikkel was, until his untimely death from cancer in September 2000 at the age of 50, a much-loved friend, counsellor, spiritual guide and teacher to a vast network of people in Sudan and around the world.
